Overview of Courses/Programmes of Activities Executed (1997 - May 2024)

From 1997 to May 2024, WAIFEM made a total of 942 capacity building interventions in pursuit of its mandate. Of these events, 837 or 88.9 percent represents knowledge and skills upgrading through training courses / workshop / seminars while 105 or 11.1 percent represents missions (needs assessment and follow-up) and other capacity building-related activities, such as progress review meetings and impact assessment surveys/studies. A total of 26,294 participants benefited from the programme.
Of the total 26,294 participants that benefited from the programmes executed, Nigeria accounted for 9,888 or 37.6 percent, Ghana 5,242 or 19.9 percent, and The Gambia 3,842 or 14.6 percent. The number of participants from Sierra Leone was 3,494 or 13.3 percent of the attendees; socio-political situation in Liberia adversely influenced its low participation rate of 2,605 or 9.9 percent of the total. Non-regional participants began to take advantage of the existence of the Institute with them accounting for 1223 attendees or 4.7 percent (See Graghs and Table below for additional details).
