Gabriel Asante was appointed as Senior Programme Manager, Financial Sector and Payment Systems Department effective 4 th January, 2023
Gabriel Asante is decisive, action oriented and results focused qualified professional with extensive knowledge in Payment and Settlement Systems, Financial Technology, Digital Financial Service and Inclusive Finance, Information and Communication Technology, Human Resource as well as Banking Supervision. He delivers diverse range of functionalities that support management and staff in attaining organizational goals. With close to twenty (20) years working experience in diverse disciplines, Gabriel has demonstrated ability to effectively
synthesize and implement a cohesive plan to execute projects to meet corporate and client requirements.
Until his appointment as Senior Programme Manager, Financial Sector and Payment Systems Department at the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management
(WAIFEM), Gabriel worked as a Research and Statistics Analyst at the Payment Systems Department of Bank of Ghana, where he was a part of a team with responsibilities
of compilation of payment systems statistics for the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), coordination and preparation the Payment Systems Oversight Annual Report,
provision of research and data to support policy on payment and settlement issues. He was also responsible for the management of the department’s online data reporting portals –
Payment Systems Analytical Portal (PSA), and the Online Regulatory Analytical Surveillance System (ORASS).
Gabriel also worked in the Human Resource and Capacity Development Department (HRCDD) of the Bank of Ghana for over six (6) years in the Operations Office which is responsible for
human capital sourcing and later administered various welfare related assignments within the Benefits and Employee Relations Office.
Prior to working at the HRCDD, Gabriel served as a Bank and Information Systems Examiner at the Banking Supervision Department at the Bank of Ghana, where he performed various
onsite and offsite examination and surveillance of various Deposit Money Banks and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIS) as well as Rural and Community Banks.
Gabriel has trained hundreds of ICT professionals in Computer Software Engineering, Database Administration Customer Relationship Management, Human Resource Management
and other generic fields. Gabriel holds Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration with focus in Finance and Risk Management, Master of Business Administration (Human Resource Management), Professional Diploma in Software Engineering, e-learning certificate in French, Professional Diploma in French. He is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist and has attended several workshops organized by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, USA, Alliance for Financial Inclusion in
collaboration with the National Bank of Rwanda, Kigali-Rwanda, Sterling Afrika, Pretoria-South Africa, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM),
Lagos-Nigeria amongst several others.

Gabriel is happily married and has four (4) adorable children.
